Technology Makes Wildlife Prints and Posters Very Affordable
by ArticleGuy on Nov.29, 2008, under Web Articles
From time immemorial, wild animals have provided inspiration for artists. In Africa, this is typified by the rock art or “bushman paintings” of the ancient San people.
Today, with the ever-expanding world population encroaching each day on the natural habitat of wild animals, more and more species are under threat, with some now critically endangered. Fortunately there are many conservation-minded people around the world who realize the importance of preserving what’s left of our wildlife.
Included in this group is a growing number of artists who are turning their skills to wildlife art, for both environmental and commercial reasons.
From photo-realistic drawings to abstract paintings, there is now an awe-inspiring variety of wildlife art available. The best of this is priced accordingly, but that doesn’t mean all good wildlife art is beyond the budget of ordinary folk.
Thanks to advancing technology and falling production costs, outstanding reproductions in the form of fine art wildlife prints, posters, and photographs are readily available at affordable prices.
Superb wildlife images, captured by the world’s leading photographers, are now digitally printed on archival photographic paper, producing vivid, pure colors and exceptional detail.
Always popular among wildlife enthusiasts are elephant prints and posters, particularly the work of those artists and photographers who are skilled in accurately depicting Africa’s largest land mammal.
Like their domestic cousins, Big Cats - tigers, lions, leopards, cheetahs, jaguars - have an enthusiastic following. Fans of these wild felines are fortunate in that their favorite animals are also favored by photographers and artists, thus providing a riveting selection of wild cat fine art prints and posters from which they can choose.
Of course it’s most satisfying to have an original, signed print or photograph, but a first-class reproduction on good quality paper, tastefully matted and framed, will still add a touch of class to any home, den, or office.
Springer Spaniel - Beloved Companions and Friends
by ArticleGuy on Nov.29, 2008, under Web Articles
English Springer Spaniels as a breed of dog are very intelligent and learn things fast. Being highly enthusiastic, eager to please, loyal, affectionate, and people-oriented makes the Springer an ideal companion for both city and country life. They are energetic and playful animals, and many owners find humor in their play. Springers are excellent all around dogs. Good training can bring excellent results in many fields, including agility, tracking, retrieving, obedience, hunting, and field trials. They are wonderful with children and are a perfect choice for families. Of course as with any dog breed, children should always be supervised to make sure they are not antagonizing the dog.
Owners will be satisfied with a Springer because they are so friendly and eager to please. There are people who use the sweet temperament of a Golden Retriever to describe the Springer’s personality. They are happy to go home and lie around the house if that is what their families are doing at the time. As long as they are allowed to people with people, they are flexible and acclimate easily to different activity levels. Being a long breeder of a variety of puppies, we can attest to their absolute friendliness.
A full grown English Springer Spaniel weighs 35-55 pounds and is an excellent sporting dog. Springers can remain in good health most of their lives which can span 10 to 14 years. There are two types of Springer Spaniels, those that are field bred, and those that are show bred. The field bred variety has a shorter coat and a more active temperament than the show bred variety. Both field bred and show bred Springer Spaniels have docked tails. The difference is, the field bred dogs tail is docked longer. The reason for this is that the tail is an important hunting tool It acts as an alert signal for the hunter.
A purebred English Springer Spaniel has a coat color of either liver and white or black and white. A tri-color combination exists, charactized by a liver, white, and black coat, but this combination occurs infrequently and only results when the sire and dam are both tri-color as well. These are easily recognised by the white flash that runs down the middle of their faces.
If you need a good hunting dog, with plenty of energy, who is ready to sniff out some ‘game’, English Springer Spaniels are the breed for you. Springers are happy to spend all day outside with their masters, they love water and are not particularly sensitive to weather in general. Because they are an old breed, they have been a favorite canine for many years. These dogs are the oldest but best hunting breed around.
I hope this explains why springers are a wonderful fit for a variety of situations, lifestyles and families. We have seen how easily these adoring animals are accepted as a part of any family.

Discover Wallops Wood Free-Range Pork
by ArticleGuy on Nov.29, 2008, under Web Articles
The free range pig herd at Wallops Wood Dairy Farm, in Droxford, Hampshire, was established in 2004 by Sam Martin and his wife. Dairy farming had been in Sam’s family for generations but Sam wasn’t interested in commodity farming. The couple were keen to establish a farm producing food that they really believed in and were happy to eat themselves day in, day out. Their rare breed Gloucester Old Spot pigs are free to roam on the chalk hills of the farm, supplementing their cereal based diet with grass, maize, apple pulp and whatever else they forage from the earth.
The free range, slowly grown, pork is cut and packed on the farm by their own expert butchery team. Hams and bacon are dry cured on-site. This enables full traceability of the product.
Customers include several Michelin starred restaurants, a secondary school and the local village shop. Pork is delivered free of charge by the farm to their customers. This Hampshire food producer is forward thinking. In the future they plan to reach a wider customer base by selling their free range pork on-line.
Their website is designed to inspire keen cooks with recipes using their pork, including ‘Home Made Raised Old Spot Pork Pies’ and ‘Home Made Faggots’.
Quotations from chefs who are happy customers also reinforce the quality and desirability of their produce. Adam Cordery the Chef/Proprietor of The Bakers Arms in Droxford, Hampshire says,
“We have found that Wallops Wood Dairy’s pork is a great selling point in our restaurant due to the fine quality of the product. In fact, we are serving more roast pork than beef which is highly unusual.”
